Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to what patients ask us most. Don't see yours? Just call.

Why DT Chiropractic?

We take care of every patient at an individual level, everybody, and every body, is different. We spend real time with you at each appointment working to relieve your symptoms. You are not just a number, and we strive to get you better as quickly as possible.

What happens at my first visit?

Your first visit includes a health history, a hands-on exam, X-rays on site if the exam calls for them, and a plain-language explanation of what we found. In most cases treatment begins the same day. Plan on more time than a regular visit so nothing is rushed. Our new patient page walks through the whole process.

What do I need to bring to my first appointment?

Please bring a copy of your driver’s license, your health insurance card, any applicable past medical history, and your accident report if applicable.

What should I wear?

In short, whatever you want! Comfortable clothing is great.

How soon can I be seen?

We work hard to see patients the same day when possible, and the next day at the latest, across all three offices. For car-accident injuries we offer same-day consultations.

Do you take walk-ins?

We do our best to work walk-ins into the schedule, but a quick call first is the smarter move: it usually gets you a same-day time with little or no wait. Call Canton at (770) 580-0123, Cartersville at (470) 888-4888, or Rome at (706) 388-3888.

Can I book online?

Yes. You can book online any time, day or night, and pick the office, provider, and time that suit you. If you would rather talk to a person, every office answers its own phone during business hours.

How do I make, cancel, or reschedule an appointment?

Book online any time, or call us at (770) 580-0123 and we’ll be happy to help.

Do I have to be referred by a doctor?

No, chiropractors can assess and treat without a referral. However, some insurers require a primary-care referral before they authorize treatment.

Do you take my insurance?

We accept most major insurance plans, including BlueCross BlueShield, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, and Medicare. We verify your benefits for free before your first visit and explain everything up front, so there are no surprises. No insurance? We offer simple, straightforward cash rates explained before care begins, with no memberships or packages ever.

Will you verify my benefits before my first visit?

Yes, and we do it for free. Call with your insurance information and our team checks your chiropractic coverage before you come in, then explains what your plan covers in plain language. You will know where you stand before any care begins. Details are on our insurance page.

Do you accept Medicare?

Yes, we accept Medicare for chiropractic spinal care at all three offices. We verify your coverage and explain exactly how your plan applies before treatment begins. Our Medicare and chiropractic page explains what Medicare does and does not cover.

How does billing work if I have insurance?

We bill your insurance directly, so you are only responsible for whatever your plan assigns to you, such as a copay or deductible amount. Because we verify benefits before your first visit, you hear the full picture up front rather than discovering it on a statement. Questions are welcome any time; see our insurance page.

What if I don’t have insurance?

You are still welcome, and it is simpler than you might expect. We offer straightforward cash rates that are explained to you before any care begins, and there are never memberships, packages, or contracts. You pay for the care you receive, visit by visit, and you can stop any time.

How many visits will I need?

It varies by problem and individual, and we begin treating you on your first visit, not after a sales pitch. We’re upfront about your care and re-evaluate your progress as we go, with no packages and no contracts, and one goal: getting you better as quickly as possible.

Do you sell care packages or require contracts?

No, never. We do not sell prepaid packages, memberships, or long-term care contracts, and we never will. You are re-evaluated as you improve and your plan adjusts with your progress. When you no longer need us, we tell you so.

What conditions do you treat?

The most common are back pain, neck pain, sciatica, headaches and migraines, herniated discs, whiplash and other car-accident injuries, sports injuries, arthritis-related pain, and pinched nerves. If your problem is outside our scope, we say so and refer you to the right provider. Browse the full list on our conditions page.

What techniques and services do you offer?

Core care is the chiropractic adjustment, tailored to your body and comfort, including gentle low-force options. We also offer Active Release Technique, spinal decompression, massage therapy, and cupping. Your exam determines which of these your plan actually needs.

Do you take X-rays on site?

Yes. All three offices take X-rays on site, and your doctor reads them with you the same visit, so you get answers without a separate imaging trip. We only take X-rays when your exam calls for them; we do not image every patient as a routine.

Do adjustments hurt?

For most patients, no. Many describe relief or a feeling of looseness right away, and any soreness afterward is usually mild and short-lived, similar to how a workout feels. If you are nervous about the traditional approach, tell us: we have gentle, low-force techniques with no twisting or cracking.

Is chiropractic care safe?

For most people, yes. Serious complications from chiropractic care are rare, and the most common side effect is temporary soreness. Safety starts with the exam: we screen for conditions that need a different kind of care and refer you out when your case calls for imaging, a physician, or a specialist instead of an adjustment.

Do you treat car accident injuries?

Yes, car-accident and personal-injury care is our specialty. We provide same-day consultations, document your injuries thoroughly, and coordinate directly with your attorney and auto insurer. We also work with a referral network of medical doctors, imaging facilities, and therapists, and can treat under a letter of protection so you can focus on recovering.

Do I need a referral after a car accident?

No. You can come to us directly after a wreck; no physician referral is required to be evaluated or treated. We handle the exam, on-site X-rays when indicated, and the injury documentation from day one. Our car-accident care page explains the whole process.

How soon after a wreck should I be seen?

Within a few days if you can, once anything serious has been ruled out. Injuries like whiplash often surface 24 to 72 hours after a crash, so feeling fine at the scene does not mean you are fine. Early evaluation starts care sooner and creates an accurate record of your injuries. We hold same-day slots for accident patients.

Do you work with my attorney and auto insurer?

Yes, routinely. We document your injuries and care thoroughly, provide records and reports when requested, and coordinate directly with your attorney and your auto insurer so the paperwork side of your recovery is handled. You focus on getting better. Learn more on our car-accident page.

What if I feel fine after my accident?

Get checked anyway. Adrenaline masks pain at the scene, and soft-tissue injuries commonly take a day or two to announce themselves. A short exam either gives you real peace of mind or catches an injury while it is easiest to treat and document. Waiting weeks makes both recovery and record-keeping harder.

How old does a child need to be for chiropractic care?

There is no strict minimum age, because care is matched to the child: the younger the patient, the gentler the technique, down to light fingertip pressure. Most of our pediatric patients are school-age kids and teens with sports strains or posture complaints. A parent stays in the room, and we refer to your pediatrician whenever that is the right call. See our family chiropractic page.

Do you offer chiropractic care during pregnancy?

Yes. Our team includes Webster-technique training and cares for expecting moms through the low back and pelvic changes of pregnancy using gentle, conservative methods. We coordinate with your OB or midwife and keep every visit within your comfort. More on our prenatal and pediatric page.

Do you treat seniors?

Yes, seniors are a big part of every office. Care is gentle and low-force, adapted for arthritis, osteoporosis, joint replacements, and whatever else you are managing, with the goal of keeping you mobile and independent. We accept Medicare. Our Medicare and chiropractic page covers the details.

Do you have Spanish-speaking doctors?

Yes. We have bilingual providers and staff at every location. Se habla español.

Where are your offices located?

We have three North Georgia offices: Canton at 2920 Marietta Hwy STE 102, (770) 580-0123; Cartersville at 205 Stonewall St, (470) 888-4888; and Rome at 4 Professional Ct, (706) 388-3888. Each page has directions, photos, and the team you will meet.

What are your hours?

All three offices are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 in the morning until 6 in the evening, with an early close at 1:30 on Wednesdays. We are closed on weekends. Early-morning times are popular with patients who want care before work, so book those a little ahead.

Which location should I visit?

Whichever is closest to you: all three offices offer the same services, including X-rays on site, car-accident care, and family care, and all have bilingual teams. If you live or work between two of them, pick the one with the appointment time you want; your records are available at any of our locations.
