Conservative, evidence-based care for acute and chronic low-back pain — serving Rome, Floyd County, and the communities of Northwest Georgia.
Low-back pain is one of the most common reasons people in Rome book a chiropractor — and for good reason. Whether you log highway miles on US-27 (Martha Berry and Turner McCall Boulevards) for a long commute, sit at a desk all day, or stay active hiking and cycling around the Seven Hills, your lumbar spine takes a steady load. At our office on Professional Court, near Atrium Health Floyd, we focus on getting to the cause of that pain with conservative, evidence-based care — never a sales pitch. We are DT Chiropractic's newest office, bringing the same approach our Canton and Cartersville patients have trusted for years to Floyd County.
Most low-back pain is mechanical — it comes from the muscles, joints, ligaments, and discs of the spine rather than from a serious disease. Common drivers we see in Rome patients include muscle and ligament strain from lifting or yard work, joint irritation from prolonged sitting, posture-related overload, and disc problems such as bulges or a herniated disc. When a disc or bony change presses on a nerve root, pain can travel down the leg — that is sciatica, and it often responds well to conservative treatment.
Daily life around the Coosa, Etowah, and Oostanaula river valleys plays a role too. A delivery driver covering GA-20 and GA-53, a nurse on long shifts, a student hauling a heavy backpack across the Berry College campus, or a Rome Braves fan twisting awkwardly in the stands at State Mutual Stadium can all wind up with the same lumbar strain. The mechanism differs; the conservative starting point is usually similar.
We treat back pain with non-surgical, conservative care first — and most low-back pain improves without injections or surgery. After an exam, your plan may combine several tools rather than relying on any single one:
For a fuller picture of how we evaluate and manage these cases, see our overview of lower back pain relief.
Your first visit is an evaluation, not an assembly line. We start with your history — when the pain started, what makes it better or worse, whether it travels into the leg — followed by a focused physical and neurological exam to check movement, strength, reflexes, and nerve involvement. If imaging or a medical referral is warranted, we will tell you honestly; nearby Atrium Health Floyd makes coordinated care straightforward when it is needed.
From there we explain what we find in plain language and lay out conservative options. There is no pressure and no upselling — just a clear recommendation. That is what we mean by "No sales — only exceptional care."
When back pain is an emergency. Most low-back pain is not dangerous, but some symptoms need prompt medical evaluation rather than chiropractic care. Seek emergency care or call your physician right away if you have loss of bladder or bowel control, progressive or severe weakness or numbness in the legs, back pain after significant trauma (a serious fall or a wreck on US-411 or US-27), fever with back pain, or unexplained weight loss. When in doubt, get checked first — we will gladly resume conservative care once a serious cause is ruled out.
We are a conservative, evidence-based practice, and our Rome team is bilingual — se habla español — which matters in a diverse college town shared by Shorter University, Berry College, and families from Lindale to Armuchee. We offer same- or next-day appointments and accept most insurance. We do not promise a guaranteed cure, because honest care means setting realistic expectations: many people feel meaningful improvement within a few weeks of consistent conservative treatment, and we adjust the plan based on how you actually respond.
If a back episode is bothering you, you do not have to live with it or jump straight to surgery. Our office sits a short drive from downtown Broad Street and the Clocktower, convenient whether you are coming from Silver Creek, Shannon, Cave Spring, or Cedartown. You can learn more about our Rome office and team any time.
DT Chiropractic treats low-back pain at all three of our offices. If you are closer to one of our other locations, we offer the same conservative approach for a back pain chiropractor in Canton and a back pain chiropractor in Cartersville.

No. You can book directly with our Rome office — no physician referral is required. If we believe your situation calls for imaging or a medical evaluation, we will tell you and help coordinate that care.
Often, yes. Pain that radiates down the leg from a pinched nerve or disc frequently responds to conservative care such as spinal decompression, adjustments, and rehab. We assess each case individually and refer out if your exam suggests you need it.
We aim to see new back-pain patients the same day when possible, and the next day at the latest. Our Rome team is bilingual (se habla español) and accepts most insurance.
Usually not. Most low-back pain — including many disc-related cases — improves with conservative, non-surgical care. Surgery is reserved for a small number of situations, such as progressive nerve damage, which we screen for during your exam.
Bring your insurance card, a photo ID, and any prior imaging or records related to your back if you have them. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in so we can fully assess how your spine and hips move.
